Health Benefit Glutathoine...A Powerful Antioxidant And A De-Toxifier Too.

Health benefit glutathoine.

What is Glutathione?

Well, quite simply, first and foremost it is a powerful antioxidant.

It is also involved in detoxification too. How? It binds itself to toxins such as pesticides, solvents and heavy metals and turns them into a form that is excreted in bile or urine.

Interesting point. Our liver also excretes glutathione directly into the bloodstream where it is used to help maintain the health of red blood cells...and also protecting white blood cells too. Good news for our immune systems.

However...glutathione is not recommended as a supplement though (Supplements are expensive too). Some researchers are saying that it is not the best method of ensuring that you have adequate antioxidant levels in your body.

Why? Well, because it has been found that only very small amounts of glutathione can pass intact from the digestive tract all the way to the cells.

Best way? To help the production of glutathione, take it through foods in your diet, and coupled up with Alpha-Lipoic Acid supplements.

Your next question...what are good food sources then?

  • Lamb
  • Veal
  • Avocado
  • Parsley
  • Asparagus
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Squash
  • Beets
  • Walnuts

Some herbs such as cinnamon and cardomom have compounds that can also restore healthy levels of glutathione.

As we grow older, our glutathione levels drop, and so our ability to detoxify free radicals decreases as well.

What are signs of glutathione deficiency?

Primarily in the nervous system. There will be a lack of co-ordination, tremors, mental disorders, and the balance of your body, all caused by lesions in the brain.
